Amanda Schortgen is the Communication Manager at Transform Consulting Group. She is passionate about telling stories of impact. She uses her skills and expertise to support client communication efforts and internal TCG strategies.
Amanda began her career as a television reporter at a local station in northern Indiana. She loved covering the excellent work that was happening in her community. She quickly realized she wanted to be involved in that impact and moved to the other side of the camera by joining the nonprofit world. She worked in the communication and fund development departments for Indiana’s largest domestic violence shelter (YWCA North Central Indiana). Here she pitched stories to the media, coordinated local coverage, managed communication strategies, and worked to raise funds for local domestic violence victims and their families through event planning and donor relations.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Media Communications from Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU), where she also hosted her own radio show and segment on the local television station. She was an All-American in track and field (the 800 meter is a favorite event) and ran cross country all four years as a Wildcat. She is most passionate about organizations that are serving & empowering women and young adults. While working with teens in the Grant County area during college, she discovered this passion. After seeing students’ challenges, specifically with peers and in dating relationships, she developed a program to encourage healthy relationships among teens. This program is still running today, and Amanda keeps in touch with many of the teens she mentors.
Amanda enjoys the fast pace environment at Transform Consulting Group and the opportunity to learn about the important work of many organizations and agencies across the state. While not naturally a “data nerd,” she loves the challenge of using data to tell stories of impact and need.
