2013 Kids COUNT Data Book Now Available!

by | Dec 5, 2013

The 2013 Kids COUNT Data Book is now available from the Annie E. Casey Foundation. The 2013 KIDS COUNT Data Book provides a detailed picture of how children are faring in the United States. In addition to ranking states on overall child well-being, the Data Book ranks states in four domains: Economic Well-Being, Education, Health, and Family and Community. There are also some great pre-made infographics for this new data. The Annie E. Casey Foundation seeks to enrich local, state and national discussions concerning ways to secure better futures for all children — and to raise the visibility of children’s issues through a nonpartisan, evidence-based lens. There is also an interactive data wheel for state by state information. Overall, Indiana ranks 30th among states using 17 key indicators from Kids COUNT. Among the four data domains, Indiana ranks 26th for Economic Well-Being, 34th for Education, 21st for Health, and 30th for Family and Community. Using the Kids COUNT Data, the Indiana Youth Institute (IYI) developed a 5 minute video on the State of Children in Indiana. IYI also has an updated county data page which allows for a fast, easy comparison of indicators in each Indiana county across time.

Transform Consulting Group often uses data from the KIDS COUNT Data Center as a resource for up-to-date research about what is happening with children in our community to create needs assessments, develop grant proposals and inform strategic planning.
