Paid Internships for Indiana Students

by | Oct 6, 2014

earn indianaInternships provide a win-win opportunity for both the employer and the intern. Through their intern program, the employer receives cost-effective labor and a potential job candidate pool. At the same time, interns receive real-world experience, apply their education from the classroom, and gain networking contacts for their future careers.

To foster an environment of internships in Indiana, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (ICHE) launched EARN Indiana. EARN Indiana was launched to help college students with financial needs have access to resume-building, experiential, and paid internships. Employers also benefit through the EARN Indiana program by providing paid internships. ICHE offers employers with approved positions up to 50% reimbursement for the hourly wage paid to the student.

The Indiana Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the ICHE to help match interns and employers through managing an online internship-matching program called Indiana INTERNnet (IIN). Participating in the EARN Indiana program is simple. Employers create a profile and post the internship(s) positions. Employers can review profiles of students seeking an internship and encourage them to apply for one of the positions.

Similarly, students can view posted internships and apply. Students who have confirmed their eligibility are designated with the EARN Indiana logo on the IIN site so employers can quickly identify qualified candidates. However, not all students know they qualify as an EARN Indiana student, so employers should ask students to complete a simple verification through the IIN website.

Transform Consulting Group is a proud partner of the EARN Indiana program and has successfully recruited three interns who have been added to the team. Transform Consulting Group will continue to use EARN Indiana to find candidates who will add value to our clients and provide real-world experience as part of their individual growth. Transform Consulting Group applauds ICHE and Indiana Chamber on promoting student development.
